🧩 Education Platform Development

Designing Complex Education Platforms with Clarity, Collaboration, and Purpose

This case study highlights my work designing and supporting the development of web-based platforms for curriculum mapping, education standards, and Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. I applied my skills in user analysis, UX design, technical documentation, and QA testing to ensure these tools met the needs of diverse users—locally and globally.

🔍 Project Overview

Across three major initiatives, I led or contributed to the design and delivery of education platforms that support curriculum planners, education ministries, and CTE stakeholders. My role spanned user research, mockup creation, functional spec writing, and collaboration with developers and clients in agile environments.

These platforms improved access and usability for teachers, administrators, and learners—and supported curriculum development and policy efforts in both Florida and international contexts.

🎯 Objectives

  • Analyze user needs and define platform goals through stakeholder interviews

  • Create UX mockups and user flows to guide development

  • Write functional specifications for front-end and back-end systems

  • Collaborate with clients and agile teams

  • Conduct QA testing and provide structured feedback during sprint cycles

🌐 Featured Projects

CPALMS CMAP Enhancements

Focus: UX Design • Requirements Analysis • Spec Writing

I designed enhancements for the CPALMS CMAP curriculum mapping tool, a widely used feature supporting Florida’s educators in planning and sharing standards-aligned instruction.

  • Synthesized requirements and user feedback

  • Created mockups in Adobe XD for new navigation and sharing features

  • Enabled COPPA-compliant student access to view mapped content

  • Improved sharing and content display for CMAP-based web pages

  • Wrote functional specs and supported QA testing during rollout

  • Developed tutorials and guides for Florida educators

CTE Program & Course Information Platform

Focus: CTE Strategy • UX & Content Architecture • Agile Collaboration

I helped conceptualize, design, and QA test a digital resource for exploring Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and course standards in Florida.

  • Designed mockups, specs and page flows for user stories related to management, editing, filtering, search, and course navigation

  • Built documentation for front- and back-end systems

  • Conducted QA across multiple sprints and release cycles

  • Developed 30+ video tutorials and help guides

  • Supported FDOE staff and delivered live training webinars

  • Connected CTE to graduation planning tools and reporting systems

Uzbekistan Education for Excellence Platform

Focus: International Collaboration • UX Planning • QA Oversight

As part of the USAID-funded Education for Excellence program, I helped design and QA an online platform for publishing education standards, textbooks, and teaching materials in Uzbekistan.

  • Collaborated with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education

  • Created UX mockups informed by stakeholder goals and cultural context

  • Designed front-end features to browse standards, books, audio, and video

  • Built a back-end system for uploading and managing content

  • Delivered in-person and remote training for Ministry editors and developers

  • Worked with teams across English, Uzbek, and Russian via translation

🧪 QA & Collaboration Highlights

  • Developed and maintained functional spec documents

  • Participated in agile sprint demos and reviews

  • Delivered structured QA feedback across platforms

  • Facilitated client alignment and UX iteration based on real-world use cases

📈 Outcomes

  • Streamlined curriculum mapping for thousands of educators

  • Launched a multilingual platform supporting Uzbekistan’s national education goals

  • Created a comprehensive CTE hub for course and graduation planning

  • Built reusable design systems and documentation adopted across projects

💡 Reflection

These platforms reflect how thoughtful UX and systems thinking can translate abstract policy goals into usable, people-centered tools. My ability to analyze, design, and collaborate across teams helps bring clarity to complex educational challenges—whether serving a local district or an international ministry.
